decrees

There are in the NT decrees of Caesar (e.g. Luke 2:1; Acts 17:7, NRSV; ‘laws[[➝ Law]], REB, ‘edicts’, NJB), but where AV used the word modern versions often prefer ‘decision’ or ‘law’.
